Senior Procurement Buyer

Role Title Senior Procurement Buyer ROLE PURPOSE:
The Senior Procurement Buyer is responsible for the execution of Procurement activities related to day-to-day supplier management relative to quality and service to Sycamore and 3rd party tolling facilities.
This position reports to the Global Category Manager for GO, SS, and Direct Materials.
This position has one direct report which is a buyer.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Utilize superior project management to ensure fulfilment of raw materials to Sycamore; including, but not limited to, facilitating day to day issue resolution related to on-time deliveries, quality issues, and supply / service issues.
Responsible for monitoring operational contracts in SAP.
In addition to contracts, responsibilities include but are not limited to, vendor cleansing / classification, pricing requests (existing material & new material), support budgeting process (AOP), maintaining standard pricing, etc.
Run and analyze relevant reports, review the operational performance of the team on a regular basis to ensure performance as per agreed service levels, key management metrics and goals and plan corrective action accordingly.
Responsible for implementing supplier scorecards / performance measures across strategic suppliers to ensure that ongoing supplier performance is measured on a regular basis.
Responsible for driving the RME process and OPEX initiatives designed to yield cost savings and revenue generating opportunities.
Challenge business requirements and specification where appropriate to deliver best value.
Work with Quality, Regulatory and Applications to ensure alignment of activities which would have impact on production.
Build regional category strategies for Sycamore by becoming the subject matter expert in the category and developing a good understanding of regional market dynamics Develop influential and positive stakeholder relationships across the group to ensure Category buy-in.
Be a role model both within the organization and create a culture of honesty, integrity and trust.
Carry out people management responsibilities for the local team in accordance with the organization's policies and local laws Set goals and clarify expectations, provide regular feedback and conduct appraisals.
Coach team members to address process gaps, identify inefficiencies and help to embed a continuous improvement culture in the organization.
Identify training opportunities focused on building capability of the team.
Help team members think of possible career options and support them in developing associated career development plans.
Perform special assignments at the request of the Global Category Manager.

Inventory management and optimization Timeliness and accuracy of Annual Operating Plan.
Savings delivery versus plan.
Development of a robust savings opportunity pipeline.
Stakeholder satisfaction data and/or survey results.
Category specific performance.
Supplier Performance.
Support the Supplier Qualification Process KEY RELATIONSHIPS:
This position has one direct report which is a buyer.
Key Production or business unit managers Global Procurement teams.
Global Process Improvement Teams.
Suppliers / Contractors.
Finance / GSS/ Group Legal.
External regulatory bodies and trade associations.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND
Experience:
The person is a self-starter with a proven track record in Strategic Procurement and Category management in blue chip companies.
With experience in building mutual relationships with key suppliers, this person will effectively establish business needs, matching innovative solutions to meet those needs.
Their experience will have been gained ideally in a fast paced, dynamic industry where the emphasis is on relationships, solution benefit, meeting challenging targets and delivering business needs.
Essential to do the job:
Proven expertise in sourcing food ingredients as a category manager in an MRP driven environment is essential to this role.
Well-developed commercial mind-set and supplier market knowledge.
Experience leading cross functional teams to deliver results.
Understanding and ability to successfully develop and manage stakeholder relationships.
Proven track record of strategic procurement and category management with small, medium and large organizations and in a variety of cultures, ideally with global exposure within allocated category.
Track record of working successful in cross functional teams to serve business needs, develop a compelling selling proposition, and negotiate to win-win contract closure.
Experience managing a portfolio of $20mm
over more than 5 of years.
Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skill.
A professional procurement qualification through a recognized professional body preferred.
A degree in a Business or Technical discipline.
To be successful in the role:
Solid understanding of the buying cycle and being able to utilize this knowledge for every client interaction to deliver against client expectation and move towards being a trusted advisor.
Experience in successfully delivering category management in a global organization.
Experience in wider related business activity would be beneficial.
Systems experience within an SAP environment would be advantageous.
PC literate including MS office suite of standard programs.
Experience and understanding of risk management tools and techniques.
Performing market assessments, trends and recommending mitigation action plans.
Willingness to travel in support of Category and business unit requirements.
